Make Peace, Not War! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

KUALA LUMPUR (February 2018): Instead of the usual Gong Xi Fa Cai festive greeting that’s globally ringing out to the ears of everyone, I Love Malaysia-China Silk Road has taken the celebration to another level.

Yes, “Make Peace, Not War”, is not a new universal slogan or theme. Yet, it is still as relevant as ever to promote and uphold it in the 21st Century.

For the Chinese civilisation, be it communities in China or elsewhere, especially in Malaysia, history has shown that the race is very practical and focused on survival.

And, the Chinese everywhere is most interested in securing personal wealth, as widely depicted in their Chinese New Year greetings and songs.

The Chinese are raised to focus their life on working hard to make an honest living and also to be very business minded - not politics or war.

Therefore, China’s multi-trillion-dollar Belt Road Initiative (BRI), formerly promoted as One Belt One Road (OBOR) Initiative which is also dubbed as the revival of the ancient China Silk Route, was launched with just that in mind - BUSINESS and TRADE.

Which other country in the world today has committed that much to regional development - constructing road, rail, sea and air links - to forge trans border business and trade?

Forget about war and dump the propaganda of war waging communities, countries and their allies.

As we universally celebrate this Chinese New Year 2018, the Year of the Earth Dog according to the Chinese Lunar Calender, lets fete ourselves with all that’s good, share whatever we can with the needy or not so fortunate.

Like the characteristics of the dog, it is prepared to sacrifice their own dreams, ambitions and desires for the sake of others, particularly for those they love.

Dogs are also known to be fiercely loyal to those they love and are ever ready to jump to the defence of any member of their family or friends who are in danger.

No one wants war, except the greedy, selfish and evil. For centuries, war has been waged between warring sovereign states.

It is time for mankind to start behaving rationally and reject war which can only result in loss of lives.
