KUALA LUMPUR (Fri, July 14, 2017): It gives me great pleasure to speak at this very auspicious celebration – the 120th Anniversary of The Methodist Boys’ School, Kuala Lumpur.

I remember being a part of its 100th Anniversary Celebration, 20 years ago.

As an alumnus, I am truly honoured to be here. It brings the nostalgic memories of my days here in this very ground. (examples… performing Shakespeare’s ‘Merchant of Venice’) that must be more than 50 years back.

The school stands as a testimony to the many achievements of excellence over the years. MBSKL now is one of the top 10 schools in Bangsar Pudu for UPSR (2017), top 10 in KL for SPM and ranked 1st or 2nd for STPM since 2008. I can see why it is very much sought after by aspiring students and anxious parents who want to enroll their children in Malaysia’s Best School (acronym-MBS).

It has students who have won accolade for competitions in Chess, Robotics, Cricket, Swimming, Debate and Scrabble at local and international levels. It is probably the first government school to obtain its ISO 9001 certification in 2014.

Her sons and daughters are spread far and wide and can be found in every sphere of progress. They are distinctly citizens with a deep sense of loyalty to king and country. With such achievement, it is without doubt that MBS can, has and will fulfill the nation’s hope of producing students that are globally competitive whilst fulfilling the aspiration of the Education Systems of Malaysia.

MBSKL has always stood out as an institution that emphasizes on character development be it through studies, sports, competitions and other activities. This has been put in place since the days of its founders …
